Description
Immerse yourself in the art of pottery with our Summer Intensive Wheel Class, a transformative week-long experience designed for enthusiasts eager to master the craft. Over the course of five days, participants will delve into the intricacies of throwing, trimming, understanding drying times, and the crucial skill of knowing when to attach handles. With a commitment to personalised attention, the class maintains an intimate setting, accommodating a maximum of eight students. This ensures a focused and engaging environment where participants can receive tailored guidance.
Following the week of hands-on instruction, students will reconvene two weeks later for a dedicated glazing session, allowing adequate time for their creations to dry.
There will be a maximum of 8 in this class with a minimum requirement of 4 persons for the class to go ahead.
You will learn to:
- Prepare the clay
- Make beautiful shapes such as cylinders, bowls and vases.
- Trim the base of your made pots
- Attach handles or make spouts
- Explore decorating such as applying slips, underglazes, texture and carving.
- Glaze application

Summer Intensive Dates
- January 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th & 26th (Please note Jan 26th is Australia Day and classes will run)
- Monday February 5th (Glazing session)
Please ensure you have checked your calendar. We do not allow make-up classes.
- Please choose the times and dates carefully. This term is transferable as a week unit to another person if there is availability, but we do not offer full refunds or make-up classes if you cannot make a week due to prior commitments or illness.
- A minimum of 4 students is required for this class to go ahead. You will be contacted if the class cannot go ahead.
- Your term includes firing of 2kg of work, any additional work can be fired at $10 per kilo charged at the end of the term. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your items to be fired at the end of the term.
- Wear clothes that you don’t mind if they get a little messy – please bring an apron or towel for your lap and don’t forget to wear closed-toe shoes!
- This class is only available for adults and children of 14 years or older. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (in the form of a paid ticket).
- Long nails can very easily damage your work and make it difficult! Please consider short nails.
- If you cannot collect your finished pieces, we can arrange to ship them for $15.00-30.00 after the term.
- Please arrive on time (or let me know if you will be early/late!). Late arrivals will forfeit will that portion of their class. This is a 2-hour class. This includes cleaning up after your makings.
- Please also wear weather-appropriate clothing. We do have heaters and cooling available if required.
- We do take photographs during some of our workshops and these photographs may be shared as content on our website and social media platforms. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken and shared please let us know in advance before the workshop begins.
