Classes

Taking a pottery class is what ignited my passion to become a full-time ceramicist, so passing on this wonderful art form is such a joy for me, just as much as it is for you learning it.

All classes from 2024 will be held at our new studio at the FYANSFORD PAPER MILLS! (100 Lower Paper Mills Rd, Fyansford). We offer one-off taster classes or a six-week term class. I can also host private wheel classes and group sessions, see below for further details.

What class should I choose?

First-time potter? I would recommend booking into a one-day taster class before you deep-dive into a term class. This is such a fun day out to explore the world of clay and make something you can take home to treasure.

Looking to gain a little more experience? Maybe the term class is for you. Over five weeks you’ll explore pottery techniques in both hand-building and wheel-throwing.

Testimonials

“Elizabeth’s pottery classes are great fun. She puts you at ease and gives you thorough instructions and then lets you find your inner potter. I made some great pots and surprised myself and my family. Will definitely be going again.”
– Caroline

“I did a class with my dad at Elizabeth Bell Ceramics. I had zero experience and dad was reliving his pottery golden years (the classes he enjoyed back at uni). Elizabeth is a great instructor and very warm and welcoming. We were taken through the basics and then given helpful pointers along the way depending on what direction we wanted to take. I was very happy with the pieces I made and even more surprised after picking them up once they were fired and glazed. I thought I wouldn’t be able to do pottery and encourage anyone doubting to give this class a go.”
– Ethan

“Thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Elizabeth in a very intimate and lovely pottery class. My mum and I did a wheel pottery class with Elizabeth and had a blast! Both with very little experience with pottery, Elizabeth was an amazing teacher, ensuring we understood the different techniques and was happy to help and demonstrate along the way. We both came out with some beautiful pieces that we will cherish forever. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back for another class soon.”
– Libby

“The Wheel-Throwing session was a fun and pleasant experience, our teacher Elizabeth was fantastic, very knowledgeable and patient with us, I would definitely like to return again and would recommend any beginners to do a session.”
