Care Instructions
We use the highest quality materials to create beautiful ceramics to cherish for a lifetime – or longer! Here are some guidelines to help you care for your pieces.
Storage and handling
Careful handling and storing correctly will ensure the longevity of your items. Your pieces are handmade in small batches and require extra care when handling. Check that handles/spouts do not knock together when stored.
Avoid scratching the glazed surface, take care when handling that surfaces do not slide over one another, especially items with an unglazed foot.
Ensure minimum contact with soft metals to reduce metal marking, which can be caused by poor quality cutlery. Use plastic or rubber scrapers to remove leftover food before washing, as metal utensils or abrasives may damage the glazed surface.
Dishwasher
While we do recommend hand-washing when possible, dishwashing is completely safe for your items when packed carefully.
When you wash ceramic dinnerware by hand, not only can you take care to ensure it doesn’t receive any undue cracks and scratches, but you can also limit the amount of time it spends submerged in water.
Allow your ceramic items to cool completely in the dishwasher before removing to reduce the chances of thermal shock.
Oven
To reduce the possibility of thermal shock, avoid sudden changes in temperature when using your items. Preheat your oven with your items inside the oven.
When removing from the oven, place your items on a wooden chopping board rather than a cold benchtop.
Never use ceramics on a stovetop or an open flame.
Microwave
Using your items in the microwave is fine as long as you allow the pieces to heat and cool slowly and evenly.
Any items that have 18k gold lustre on them should not, under any circumstance be put in the microwave.
