Hand-Building Taster Class – May & June

$109.00

Description

In this engaging and hands-on workshop, you will have the opportunity to unleash your creativity and bring your dream pieces to life. Our experienced instructor Rylie will guide you through various pottery techniques, including slab building, pinching, and coiling.

During the workshop, you will learn the art of slab building, which involves rolling and shaping clay slabs into unique and functional platters. This technique allows you to experiment with different textures, patterns, and designs, enabling you to create a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your personal style.

In addition to slab building, you will also explore the traditional methods of pinching and coiling. Pinching involves using your fingers to shape and mold the clay, while coiling involves creating long ropes of clay and stacking them to build the desired form. These techniques offer a more organic and freeform approach to pottery, giving you the opportunity to create beautiful and unique platters.

Your favourite pieces  (max 2) from the workshop will be finished, glazed and ready for collection around 4 weeks after the class. Shipping can be arranged at your expense, generally around $15.00.
