No Join us for this special MasterClass guided by the extremely talented ceramicist Will McCanless. With over 30 years of pottery experience, you will be learning from the best in the business.
This 4hr throwing intensive will build upon your current wheel skills. Students will explore multiple clay shapes, and be encouraged to push their personal limits with clay weight and sizes. Will will fine tune your foundation throwing skills and guide you throughout the session, providing an opportunity for all workshop participants to expand and grow their technical repertoire.
This workshop is purely about upskilling and expanding on your pre-existing techniques in order to achieve new heights and advanced forms on the wheel. As this is an advanced class, basic Wheel Throwing experience is required, you should be able to centre a minimum of 1kg of clay but you don’t need to be a professional to join. It is first and foremost a learning experience where you will be cutting in half and assessing your work.
These are the goals:
- Advanced throwing techniques.
- Creating large forms
- Making a large bowl, vase or platter.
- Throwing thinner and using clay more sustainably.
What is included;
- Stoneware clay
- Tools & equipment (You may also bring your own throwing tools)
- Your favourite piece throughout the Masterclass will be fired and glazed by the studio. You may collect your piece 4-6 weeks after the masterclass.
- 4 Hour Class Time
Location: EBC studio – Geelong West
- Please choose the time and date carefully. We do not offer refunds.
- Please DO NOT come to the class if you are unwell – you will be asked to leave if you are sick and no refund will be issued.
- This class is only available for adults.
- A minimum of 4 students is required for this class to go ahead. You will be contacted if the class cannot go ahead. A Maximum of 8.
- Wear clothes that you don’t mind if they get a little messy – please bring an apron or towel and don’t forget to wear closed-toe shoes!
- Long nails can very easily damage your work and make it difficult to create!
- Your beautiful handmade item will be ready for collection around 4-6 weeks after the class. If you cannot collect, we can arrange to ship for $15.00.
- Your pots will be held for 1 month after you have been notified for collection. If you cannot collect and opt to not have the items shipped at your expense, the items will be donated to charity.
- Finished pots will be glazed in our small range of house glazes. You will be able to select from this range at the end of your class.
- Please arrive on time (or let me know if you will be early/late!). Late arrivals will forfeit will that portion of their class.
- Please also wear weather appropriate clothing however I do have heaters and cooling available if required.
- We do take photographs during some of our workshops and these photographs may be shared as content on our website and social media platforms. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken and shared please let us know in advance before the workshop begins.
