Description

Making Glazes from Hardwood Ash

Discover the beauty of natural ash glazes in this hands-on workshop. Using a hardwood ash base (from red gum and eucalyptus), we’ll explore how to transform this humble material into stunning, one-of-a-kind glaze surfaces. You’ll learn how to prepare, sieve, and blend the ash with other simple glaze ingredients and oxides to create your own signature recipes.

All test pieces will be fired in electric (oxidation) and gas (reduction) kilns — revealing how each atmosphere transforms your glaze.

Perfect for potters interested in natural materials, glaze chemistry, and the elemental magic of fire

This workshop will be hosted and taught by Elizabeth Bell and Jessica Jones

All levels welcome. You do not need to know glaze chemistry or pottery to enjoy this class.

Results of firings will be shared via PDF along with recipes used.
